Srinagar, July 25 (KNO) : The 2015 batch of undergraduate students on Thursday accused the Kashmir University (KU) authorities of playing with their career by delaying the backlog exams of 4th semester. The delay in holding the backlog exams has left the students in a state of despair. A group of students told KNO that they are at the verge of losing one academic year as KU is indecisive about holding their backlog exams of 4th semester. “The students won’t be able to fetch admissions in universities outside Kashmir if exams will be delayed. The delayed conduct of exam will result in delayed declaration of result. In this case, we will lose one academic year,” the students told KNO. They told KNO that the University administration was delaying the examination unnecessarily which will cost the students one year of their career. “If the exams are not held on time, it will cost hundreds of students their opportunity to take admission in outside universities as the admission process in outside states starts in June and culminates in August,” they said. They said the KU took two months to conduct examination of one semester which delays the completion of their degrees on time. The students appealed the KU authorities to conduct their exams early and declare the results in a stipulated time. “We don’t want our one year go waste unnecessarily,” the students said. It is pertinent to mention that since the introduction of semester system of exams by the Kashmir University (KU) the students are complaining of delayed conduct of exams and declaration of results. “The delay in holding exams and declaring results ultimately results in delayed completion of results which is detrimental for students,” the students told KNO. It may be recalled that the 2015 batch of students was the first batch when the Kashmir University replaced annual system of exams by semester system of exams. “But the irony is that the KU authorities have failed to streamline the exam system after introduction of semester exams which is proving costly for students,” the students told KNO. Controller examination KU when contacted told KNO that the date sheet will be issued soon after completing departmental formalities for holding exams. (KNO)
